Groove Experimental

Workshop

House, Hip Hop & Contemporary Fusion

In the workshop, dancers are encouraged to creatively use new and individual movement patterns by playing with musical structures, groove and improvisation.

Small dynamic routines are developed, inspired by the styles of house, hip hop, contemporary and floorwork. These will be changed over the course through input and aleatorics, so that playing with habits can become a challenge.

In order to focus on the ‘experimental’ genre, the exploration of musicality and individual tasks is an essential part of the training.

The workshop will take place on Sunday, 6 October from 11:30 to 13:00. Information on prices and registration can be found here.

Diving into Mandy's choreographic working methods.

In her choreographic work, Mandy explores the nature of electronic music, such as house, techno or hip hop, as vectors for social symbiosis and transformation. She considers the musical landscapes and their cultural movement vocabularies both as a source for choreographic creations and as a form of expression of historical and cultural movements.

In this interactive evening, Mandy will offer an insight into her choreographic work through both a discussion and a physical exploration of her choreographic approach.

During the discussion, Mandy will talk about her approach to the interaction between musical structures and movement patterns, as well as her vision of dance as a material and building block of social processes.

In a second part, Mandy will offer participants who wish a physical exploration of her approach to movement and her method of creating choreography. Participation in this exploration is free. It will be designed to be accessible to a wide audience and give participants the opportunity to experience her working processes either visually or physically.
