Martina Hefter & Patrice Lipeb

Martina Hefter, who was awarded the Grand Prize of the German Literature Fund and the Literature Prize of the State Capital of Wiesbaden in 2024, is an author and performance artist.

Her texts range between poems, novels and scenic forms of writing. In many of these, she collaborates with other artists to stage them, using aspects of dance, theatre and sound/music.

Together with musician and performer Patrice Lipeb, she recently presented Flammen - a performative audio walk through Leipzig's Auwald forest based on a text from her latest poetry collection In die Wälder gehen, Holz für ein Bett klauen (kookbooks-Verlag).

Her multimedia performance Soft War (by and with Patrice Lipeb), which is partly based on motifs from her current novel Hey guten Morgen, wie geht es dir? (Klett-Cotta-Verlag), will premiere in November 24 at the Schauspiel Leipzig residency.

Patrice Lipeb works as a freelance musician and editor

He explores layers and textures of sounds. On this basis he creates varieties of aleatoric and generative music, analogue loops, synthesizer drones and rhapsodic guitar lines that condense into atmospheric spontaneous compositions.

Composing realities

Workshop

Language, sound, movement.

What is the moment? What is happening around us, right now.

In this workshop we will create scenes on the theme of the moment, somewhere between theatre, dance, literature and music.

The material: everyday life. Our language, or rather our speech. Our bodies. And the music that surrounds us.

We want to capture something of the moment by recording it as a voice memo, writing it down as a text or simply transforming it spontaneously into a story.

With this material we will get in touch with each other, listen and react to each other to create moments full of funny, sad, crazy reality.

You don't need any previous knowledge. Just bring writing utensils and a mobile phone.

Also comfortable clothes and socks or shoes suitable for dancing.

(!) For professional reasons, Martina Hefter had to cancel her participation in the workshop at the last minute on Thursday morning. (!)

We deeply regret her absence and apologise for the inconvenience. The workshop will be lead by Patrice Lipeb and performer, dancer and dramaturgist Niko Jacobi. Martina, Patrice and Niko have been working closely together for several months as part of their performance project
Soft Wars. The concept and design of the workshop will remain unchanged. Martina will join the festival in the evening to participate with Niko and Patrice in the exchange and performance Snippets of the now.
