Passing Time
Workshop
„A journey through the sensations and the multidimensionality of time.“
In this workshop, Shai will share dance and performative tools for time perception from her piece It's about time. In this piece, she approaches life as a non-linear process and proposes different ways to feel time. On the last day, the workshop will be open to visitors for half an hour so that participants have the opportunity to practise in the presence of a small audience.
The workshop focuses on developing different dynamic qualities, opening the awareness to the musicality of our movement and understanding better the relationship between movement and time.
This huge topic will be shared and practiced through working on different dynamic qualities of movement like bounce, suspension, explosiveness etc, through rhythm work and its application into movement and the body, and through experiencing and observing the passing of time and its presence as a companion.

By using these concepts, engaging different ways of listening to our own movement and to the movement around us, and by playing with rhythm and the perception of time, we will aim to open a space where the connection between movement and time is at the foreground and where we can shift the attention between WHAT we are doing to WHEN we are doing it. Movement will become a tool to investigate the musicality and orchestration of the body and time will become the frame to challenge and manipulate our movement habits.
The workshop takes place on 3, 4 and 5 October, from 2 to 6 pm. It will be held in English. A partial translation in German is possible.

The material and information shared during the workshop will build up from day to day over the course of the three days. For this reason, participants are asked to attend all days.

It will be open to visitors on the 6th from 5:30 pm until 6 pm.
It's About Time
Performance & Exchange
The evening will start with a performance of the piece It's About Time from Shai Faran. This performance will be followed by a public discussion with the artist, moderated by Tessa Theisen from you are warmly invited.

It's About Time is a journey through the sensations and multidimensionality of time, moving between the speed of our busy lives in the city to the slowness of the vast and endless natural landscapes of Iceland.
The work deals with different ways of perceiving and dealing with time. Can we influence time? Manipulate it, stretch it, compress it, stop it? Can we exist alongside time, and can we go forwards in order to go backwards in time? Can we dance with time? What affects our perception of time and how can we detach ourselves from it?
It's About Time challenges our conventional understanding of what it means to make the best use of time. Optimal use of time usually means doing MORE, producing MORE, working HARDER and optimising ourselves from day to day to meet society's demands on us and our own demands on ourselves.
It's About Time proposes a process-orientated view of time. Life is more than a collection of products or events! Life is a constant process, it is not linear and it does not always go forwards or upwards. In life, ‘more’ can mean very different things. It's About Time deals with the concept of time, its malleability, multidimensionality and the various things that influence our perception of time.
